The surgical comfort and efficiency of the 27G peelings are mostly dependant on the ergonomics and stiffness of the forceps. The new Extended Reach - Wide Grip 27G forceps combines significantly increased rigidity for direct response and a wider gripping tip allowing for a reduced number of grasp actions and minimized risk of retinal trauma. In addition, the stronger end gripping tip with serrations allows for stronger grip of membranes.
The DORC 27G wide grip forceps are fantastic. They provide a firm grasp on membranes with minimal shredding. Also, their rigidity is comparable to 25G forceps. I highly recommend them.
I’ve been very impressed by the new 27G wide grip forceps making them my preferred choice for both 25G and 27G cases. The tips allow for good tissue visualization, while the grasping strength and rigidity are excellent.
